The Process

How The Process Works

We’ll start with a free 30-minute phone conversation to better understand your needs. Once you decide you’re happy to progress, this is what happens next.

Concept Meeting

We’ll visit your site to discuss your build in more detail so we can be aware of any location challenges and plan your build more accurately.

1

Pre-Design Appraisal

For a modest fee we will provide you with a pre-design estimate so you understand the overall costs before applying for a building consent.  This simple step can save you time and money further down the track as once your consent is granted it becomes a lot more expensive to make changes.

Most clients tell us this is one of the most valuable steps in the whole process.

2

Price Proposal

Once your plans and specifications are finalised, we’ll engage an independent Quantity Surveyor (QS) to prepare a detailed cost estimate for your project. This gives you an independent assessment of the build costs, with a clear breakdown of every stage of the build, so you can easily see where your money is being spent.

Using the QS estimate, we’ll prepare your Price Proposal and walk you through it together, explaining the costs, discussing your options, and making any adjustments needed to suit your goals and budget. Once you’re happy, you’ll have everything you need to confidently decide whether to move forward.

If you choose to build with us, we’ll credit 50% of the Quantity Surveyor’s fee against your first invoice.
3

Contract & Guarantees

Once you’re happy to move forward, we’ll prepare a comprehensive NZ Certified Builders contract that clearly sets out the scope of work, responsibilities, and how your project will be managed.
4

Construction

It’s time to get your project underway, we will schedule a pre-start meeting, introduce you to your Site Manager, work through a site induction and then schedule regular meetings to discuss the build progress.  From here on in you can enjoy watching your plans coming to life.

5

Handover

Before you and your family move into your new home we will meet with the local building authority and help you obtain your Code of Compliance. The final step is to complete the council documents, provide you with a maintenance schedule and then hand over your keys.
