Nestled on the hillside above Onetangi Beach, Casa Barbara is a beloved family holiday home that came to us in need of a complete rethink. Kim and Dean’s brief was clear — open it up, maximise the sea views, and blend the home’s quirky character with bold, modern design.
Through a recommendation from close friends, Kim and Dean entered the project confident in the quality of work. But like most of our clients, their biggest concerns were timing and budget.
The renovation touched almost every part of the home. We added a new master suite clad in colour steel on the exterior, with an ensuite finished in striking green finger tiles. The open-plan living area was relevelled and reworked — a fresh layout that makes the most of the space and the views.
Outside, we replaced the existing deck with hardwood Kwila decking, glass balustrades, and a custom-built Venetian fence — an outdoor entertaining space that opens directly from the living area. Throughout, carefully chosen finishes tied everything together: a Mastercraft kitchen, Resene paint, and engineered flooring.
